The Lions

Heraklion  is  the biggest of all  the  other cities  of Crete.  Arabians  built  it  in 824  BC  and  it  was  called  Xandax.   It  is  surrounded   from  old  Venetian  walls  which  have  total  length 5km. Their constructions has started  in 1462 and lasted for more than 100 years.
The visitors will  have the chance  and  the  pleasure  to  visit to most  important  Minoan sites  of  Greece,  to  walk   in   some  of   the largest  gorges  of  Europe  and  swim  in the crystalline and clean waters of Crete.
History is very much alive in Heraklion just like in most Greek cities. The central  square whill  surrounded by  cafes, stores  and  restaurants is  dominated by the fountain  of  the  Lions  build  by Morozini  the  venetian governor in 1628.
Many archaelogical sites can be visited in Heraklion  as well as beautiful churhes.
